Music, makes the people, come together

Today I went to the new, giant, Warehouse. To the international readers out there, The Warehouse is a chain of stores that sells stuff really cheap. Some consider stuff from there inferior, but screw them.

We recently got a new Warehouse round here which involves two stories of Warehouse goodness. The most amazing things in it are the new escalators, they have a little conveyor for the trollies as well. You push them into one end, and up (or down) they go.

Now, the Warehouse it replaced was a shocker in music stock. It basically had nothing. The one near the Uni was better, and that is out of the main city. This new one has a rather large collection of music. Even dodgier was the single “Speed of Sound” by Coldplay, in a cardboard sleeve, had the CD in it, and no security surrounding it.

So I browsed around that section and found a couple of John Mayer CDs. I already have his last two CDs, “Room for Squares” I bought from a Warehouse for a smooth $12.99. I found the other, and latest CD for $9.99. I was shocked. I bought it at the typical price of $24.95 soon after it was released. So, it was the latest CD, yet was cheaper than his earlier CD. Well, I guess that one was more popular…

As a side note, while looking for the picture of John I found this interesting picture. It involves him and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine:

Ahhh, feel the love.

I also found last years Australian Idol runner-up Anthony Callea’s CD there as well. I didn’t know he had released a CD and was quite dissapointed that he lost to Casey Donovan. But isn’t that always the way, the one who can sing comes second to the one who can’t? You should’ve seen the hideous outfit she wore too on the announcement night.

Anyway, enough dreaming. Today involved money and a flatmate getting pissed off. I am the treasurer of a group at the Uni. On Wednesday I was told that there was a cheque that I had to write before today. I wrote it up on Thursday (and it was lucky I did too, because I had a test before it and I tend to forget stuff). I was told after preparing the cheque that I had to give him several extra dollars. So I scribbled out the “twenty,” corrected it, initialed it and hoorah! Now, I had to wait for someone else to sign it (needs two people). I forgot about this fact, especially since there was an unexpected guest at my place. When said flatmate got back, he was all “Why isn’t it signed?” I was: “Oh yeah.”

“Fine I’m not going.”
“Hey, wait a second. What will she be doing tomorrow?”
“She is busy”
“Doing…”
“Work”
“Why don’t you see if you can get her, it’ll only take less than 5 seconds.”

He calls, and all is sorted. Today, I went to class, came back ready to watch Big Brother, and then got told that they didn’t accept the cheque:

“You didn’t put your signature on it.”
“Yes I did.”
“You corrected it, and put your initials, you need to put your signature.”
“Yeah, that’s what you do.”
“No it isn’t.”
“So, what happened?”
“They didn’t accept the cheque cause you didn’t put your signature on it.”
“What?” Note, the tone of this is more, “What the hell?” rather than “Pardon moi?”
“THEY DID NOT ACCEPT….”

Fucker. Threw his mail at him and stormed off. Lost, without a hope. I was close to getting an ad up to the Accomodation office, don’t know why I didn’t.

That’s when I went into town, and caught up with someone from Bryant last year. She said they might have an opening at her flat. So, I’m hoping that is so. She has since (last year) changed cellphone and I don’t have her number anymore. Hopefully the number I told her was correct, really is correct.

Well, that sums up today quite nicely. Oh wait, I did get the new Coldplay CD. It is great.
