Microsoft taking longer to patch bugs

Some research company has been looking into how long it takes Microsoft to issue fixes since 2003. It now takes them 50% longer (134 days) to make a fix than it did in 2003. However, published bugs take a shorter period of time to fix, which now takes about 46 days.

Woohoo Microsoft. They seem to be thinking that if one person out of how many millions of users can find it, then no one else can.

This sort of behaviour sort of explains how last year when Mozilla was left with a security bug to fix the guy that reported it published his findings. This did send Mozilla into a spin. However, it is thought that his actions were more sinister as he was talking about how hard it was to work with Mozilla over the bug. Mozilla however said there was no problems.

Plus, would anyone feel safe when Windows Vista is released? Microsoft have already issued security patches for the beta OS. Of course though, this is beta software.
