A new PSP update
It was perhaps a shock, Sony have released firmware 2.71 just recently. There is really only one new feature, and that is the ability to download game demos using the web browser. There has been no flaw found in firmware 2.7 to play homebrew software (however some people are speculating that Sony are patching one up before it was found, but nothing confirmed). Sony have also released a new demo (Kazou) and the English version of LocoRoco demo.
I suspect that LocoRoco was being used to try out demos of games, and it was a success so they are making it standard. I’ll be pretty happy if the PSP has downloadable demos of games, it is a smart move for Sony to make.
Download from YourPSP.com if you remember that no homebrew works on it (if you use it).
I’ll be buying a new game soon probably, so I’ll be having to upgrade to 2.5. If that is the case, I’ll be upgrading right up to 2.71 (I don’t plan on buying Grand Theft Auto).
Also, if you have a fast connection, you can check out the PSP Content Packs that Sony release monthly. They are about 100MB and include gameplay videos, screenshots, wallpapers and music for you to enjoy. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future they’ll bundle game demos with them too.
