Waikato University’s student magazine Nexus has finally caught up with other student mags and got themselves a website.
It probably would’ve been a bigger and better launch if they did it when Issue 01 for 2007 comes out in February…
Wait, this is Waikato Uni, it wouldn’t make a difference! (It took a number of weeks for 50 people to join the Nexus Forums launched a few months ago).
Fair enough. I thought it looked similar to some other student mag (not a lot, so you are safe 
).
And, well, late is better than never!
Yeah, their design is nice, if a bit clunky with so many boxes on the screen. I’m not saying the Nexus one is better (I have some issues with it already, heh) but I basically took elements that I liked from Salient’s site and either used as-is or simplified them a bit. I even credit them in my code!

I actually wanted to release it at the start of Semester B but at that point I was still trying to hand-code the backend and all and it was taking ages with my limited abilities. Then Salient rolled out their really cool site (salient.org.nz) and I was envious, until I checked their code and noticed they were using Wordpress. So I used it too! Suffice to say, I only had time at the middle and end of the year (a.k.a. when not making the magazine) to make the website so now’s a better time than any to roll it out
