Because my friends (and I) wonder what the point of Twitter is, I’ll post my ideas for such usage on my blog – not that they read it though.

#1: Party!
If all your friends are on Twitter and have set up their mobile phones for use with the service and have text notifications on, it can be a great way to save money when texting lots of friends about a party.

Why? Because Twitter has a send to text feature which is free. Also here in New Zealand, it costs nothing to receive texts, but costs to send them.

It is also less effort, just posting “Party at my house” on Twitter is less effort than trying to type out on your phone and then selecting a list of contacts you want to send it to (especially since many phones only allow around 10 contacts at a time to be selected).
