The monstrosity on the net is coming to NZ

header_43.gifMySpace New Zealand is going to be launching later next month. I’m not sure what is going to be so different about it. The article keeps going about how local musicians can have a larger audience. But, it isn’t like local musicians don’t already use MySpace. It isn’t just limited to the American market! I’ve found several artists on there that are from New Zealand (or ex-NZers) trying to make it big.

Whether a specialised New Zealand version is going to change anything - well we’ll have to wait and see. Apparently, it worked for Australia.

Help find Jayden

You may have heard in the news recently about the missing 6 year old kid who was kidnapped by his grandfather from Hamilton Central Library on the 18th of August this year. I received this in my inbox this evening and wish to pass it on.

200x200_jayden_front.jpgAll New Zealander’s,
Please can you help find this 6 year old missing boy?

Jayden Headley was kidnapped from the Hamilton Public Library in August 2006.

A $10,500 Reward has been offered for any information leading to Jayden’s return in time for Christmas.

Evidence suggests Jayden is being kept in isolation by his 68 year old grandfather as a result of a lengthy custody battle.
Police are concerned for Jayden’s welfare and believe there may be a possibility he is hiding Jayden somewhere in Northland, New Zealand.
200x200_dick_front.jpgA warrant has been issued for Dick Headley’s arrest.

Please think about the area you live in, is this man hiding Jayden in your area?
If you are unable to help directly then please (for Jayden’s sake) forward this e-mail on to as many New Zealander’s as you can.
NZ is not too big, let’s get Jayden home for Christmas.

Ph 0800-JAYDEN (0800-529336) or visit www.jayden.gen.nz

Hopefully he can be found before Christmas so then he can spend it with his father, who has custodial rights to Jayden.

iTunes makes it to New Zealand

After much of the typical speculation, and denials from Apple, New Zealand now has it’s own iTunes Music Store, launched today.

At $1.79 a track, it is slightly cheaper than other competing music stores in New Zealand, like Digirama and RipIt. Thanks to Mike for pointing this out, Digirama is actually cheaper. Not by a lot. iTunes sells songs at $1.79, and albums at $17.99 (most of them anyway). Digirama on the other hand is $1.74, and albums at $17.

There are a number of New Zealand artists on the store, including Fat Freddies Drop, Tim and Neil Finn, and Pluto.

To get to the iTunes store, download iTunes from Apple, and select the New Zealand music store from the picker at the bottom of the iTMS home page.

Russell Brown is taking great delight at being the first to announce the date of the store… however rumours have been spreading like wildfire since the Australian music store launched a year ago.

There is also an Apple Store too, with 10% cheaper products.
