Bob Clarkson, who ousted NZ First leader Winston from the Tauranga electorate, had said some stupid comments the other day. He went against burqas (head dresses worn by Muslim women) and gays as well. The media mainly focussed on the burqa comments. He continued to dig a hole when asked questions,
I meant no harm in any shape or form. It’s just, I do think they’ve got to be a little more compromising when they come to somebody else’s country. Learn to live with us, don’t fight us,
Uhhh, practice what you preach, Bob. I would love for someone from the Muslim community to throw that last sentence back at him. The comments he made on One News were along similar lines.
National party leader Don Brash issued a statement saying the party is not interested in what people wear provided they believe in values like religious and personal freedom and sexual equality.
“Religious and personal freedom,” time to teach Bob a lesson.
On gayness, he said “Do it in your home if you want to.” Learn to live with us, don’t fight us, Bob.
