As Windows Vista RC1 is out, development software and important drivers will be released out into the wild. I’ll try and list them here, and keep it up to date. (If I missed something, feel free to comment.)
- Windows Vista - what you’ll be using this for.
- nVidia ForceWare [Graphics] Drivers - only compatible with RC1 build (build 5600).
- ATi Catalyst [Graphics] Drivers - only compatible with RC1 build (build 5600).
- Microsoft .Net 3.0 - Vista already comes with this, however you’ll want this if you wish to create software for Windows Vista technologies (Presentation Foundation, Communication Foundation, CardSpace, etc).
- Windows SDK - Documentation, examples, etc of the new Windows Vista API. There is a lot of new stuff in Vista, so this is worth checking out.
- Microsoft Expression Interative Designer - Used for making user interfaces for Windows Presentation Foundation.
- Cider (Visual Studio WPF Tools) - For Visual Studio 2005, it lets you create user interfaces for the Windows Presentation Foundation. Cider Wiki.
